The Mobile Computing Industry
A notable growth in mobile computing industry has been established in recent years due to the demand for devices intended for mobile computing. All entities that play a major role in enabling wireless connectivity are found in the mobile computing industry. Manufacturers of mobile computing devices including laptops, tablet PCs, palmtops, smartphones and other handheld devices are included in this huge industry as well.
It is consisted of Wi-Fi or wireless fidelity network service providers that provide network coverage to offices, public places and other small workplaces. On the other hand, WiMax or Wireless Interoperability for Microwave Access is also the technology that provides network coverage over a wider area. Compared to the Wi-Fi network, the WiMax is considered better as it provides higher bandwidth and high data security by using enhanced encryption schemes. It supports several communications protocols and can act as the backbone network for an ISP or Internet service provider and telecom service provider.
Working alongside is the software industry that closely contributes to the mobile computing industry through the development of mobile computing software. For this reason, clients are able to use the software to access the Web, send and receive e-mails and download electronic content. They can also draw images and write text messages in devices that use digital pens and touch screens, aside from the capacity to download audio and video files.
Currently, the industry is working on nanotechnology to be able to develop modern devices that should be small enough to fit a wristwatch and must operate much faster than current generation mobile computing devices.
